At the request of a social activist named Chandrasekhar Gaur, 9 million people benefited from gas in the Ujjwala scheme could not fill their cylinders in the last financial year. Only 1.06 crore customers can refill cylinders. This was stated by 3 oil producing companies of the country.
On May 1, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana with much fanfare. At that time, the center’s goal was to bring 80 million people under the project by March 2020. So far 90 million people have got gas connection under that scheme. The second part of the scheme has also been launched. But in the last financial year, only 1.06 crore people were able to get gas. And now the price of cooking gas is 1026 rupees. As a result, it cannot be said that the condition of the people in that scheme will get worse.
